BusinessInterviews.com:  What are some of the most common mistakes you see small businesses make when it comes to website design?

Matt: Nowadays, simply having a website isn’t enough as a business owner. It’s what you do with your website after you launch that matters. Are you presenting your products and services to your customers are a user friendly way? Are you continuing to add features to your website to improve your user’s experience? These are the things that you need to figure out as a business owner.

BusinessInterviews.com:  Can you share your top tips when it comes to building an eCommerce store?

Matt: Picking the right eCommerce platform is key. You’ll need your eCommerce store to grow, and if your platform is outdated, it can hold your online business back. If you’re starting from scratch, it can take one to two years to gain traction online, so having patience is important.

BusinessInterviews.com:  Can you talk about the significance of partnering with platforms like BigCommerce and Shopify and the potential advantages it can provide your clients?

Matt:  They are cost effective solutions to clients that might not have the necessary resources to pay for a custom solution. The groundwork is there so we can spend less time on things like the cart checkout process and security. It also helps that we understand the ins and outs of these platforms. Where many agencies work with many different eCommerce software solutions, we stick to the few that we are familiar with.

BusinessInterviews.com:  Can you share a recent example of how you helped provide a client with a unique user experience?

Matt:  We had a client (fantasyfootballdraftboard.net) that was using a WordPress site to facilitate their eCommerce transactions. They wanted to move to an open source solution. As a result of their new platform (Magento) and the site’s design, they reported a dramatic increase in sales (over 1000%) during their busiest months.  It was a good example of how important it is to balance SEO and the user experience of a site.

BusinessInterviews.com: What advice would you give to someone about to use WordPress for the first time?

Matt:  Take advantage of all of the free resources online.  Out of all the platforms that we work with, WordPress by far is most user friendly to use. There’s a huge community online that can help provide answers to any problems you run into.

BusinessInterviews.com:  What are some trends in the eCommerce landscape that you’re excited about or think that our readers should be paying attention to?

Matt:  eCommerce is becoming a giant, it’s eating retail’s lunch. If you sell goods directly to consumers in a B2C space, you need to have a strategy to sell your goods online. With cost effective platforms like BigCommerce, Magento and Shopify, you can get your goods online quickly and efficiently.
