CEO Chelsea Berler founded Solamar Marketing Agency in 2006 as a creative solution for business owners who needed the marketing and administrative support of a team – without the overhead of “in-house” staff.
The Solamar team stretches the boundaries so your name is known and your brand is identified by all—through marketing and branding initiatives, business relationships, strategic consulting and team support.
Their complete branding & design services help you fully express your brand story with captivating visuals and compelling narratives.
BusinessInterviews.com: What are the most common mistakes you see companies make when it comes to brand development?
Chelsea: The biggest thing is that companies think saving money is important when it comes to the brand and design development. It’s so wrong. Your brand and website define who you are. If you don’t invest in yourself and really rock the online world, you’ll get lost in the noise and shuffle of the web.
BusinessInterviews.com: How do you ensure that the vision and message of a brand remains consistent across all of their marketing channels?
Chelsea: We make sure it’s properly managed. It’s all in processes and procedures in a business. You want to ensure you have a strategy and that your strategy is rocked out everywhere in the most consistent way possible.
BusinessInterviews.com: What advice would you give to a new manager when it comes to putting a team together?
Chelsea: Treat your team like you’d treat your family. They are the reason we are all here today, the reason things happen, and the reason we are in business. The team is everything. You need to take good care of them. But, as a manager, you also need to hold that authoritative position –but do it as a leader, not as someone that is “above” anyone. Great leadership and a great team make all the difference in business.
BusinessInterviews.com: What are the key differences between building a personal brand for an individual and creating a brand for a company?
Chelsea: The tactics and goals are the same when you’re talking about a personal brand and a corporate brand. But the personal brand is all about the individual and corporate brand is all about the company.
BusinessInterviews.com: Congratulations on becoming a contributor for The Huffington Post. What topics are you most looking forward to covering in the coming months?
Chelsea: I love writing about the things people “sugarcoat” in business and especially in starting and running your own business. There’s a lot of BS out there and it might sound good – and it might also lead people to run at a lot of bright shiny objects, but the truth needs to be heard on a much bigger level on how hard it is too. The trials and tribulations – and how you can get through them.
BusinessInterviews.com: What inspired your decision to write, “The Curious One: From Food Stamps to CEO – One Woman’s Journey through Struggle, Tragedy, Success and Love?” How has your definition of success changed during the course of your career?
Chelsea: When I realized the impact I could have on just one person – and how it could potentially be life changing for that one person, I was all for it. We’ve sold almost 5 thousand copies and there’s so many readers writing in on the impact the story has made in their life. That has made the process so much sweeter. My definition has always been pretty consistent. It has nothing to do with money or fame. It has everything to do with the lives you’ll impact and change in your lifetime. That is all.
