MO: What inspired you to launch your business?

Guillermo: I’d seen it all. I had been in the trenches learning first hand for a decade. I kept watching businesses settle for mediocrity in the way they handled their clients and workload. If I thought I could do it better, I figured it was time to prove it, and that’s how the idea for my business Geek Powered was hatched.

MO: Do you have any recent success stories that you’d like to share with our readers?

Guillermo: We’re known for working hard and getting results. And we’re proud of the success we’ve been able to help our clients achieve. Some of our success stories include: – Taking one client from 5-10 service calls a week to 8-15 a day – We tripled sales for an eCommerce client who was previously not a “believer in the power of the Internet” (this was extra rewarding!) – And we helped one client gross over a million dollars in 6 months. – We took one client from “banned” by Google back to the front page.

MO: What do you wish someone told you?

Guillermo: I wish someone had told me the value in getting a good lawyer, accountant and banker early on in the business. It’s very true that every dollar you’ll spend putting out fires, you could have just invested in the right people to protect your business and saved precious time, energy and money.

MO: What’s the biggest risk that you’ve ever taken and how did it turn out?

Guillermo: Starting the business was definitely the biggest risk I’ve ever taken!

MO: And how did it turn out?

Guillermo: Well… I’m still here so I think it’s going pretty well!

MO: How do you find ways to differentiate yourself in a competitive market place?

Guillermo: Our industry doesn’t always fall in the brightest light, and most of our competitors take a bland approach to what we do. Just because we’re geeks behind screens and knee deep in data it doesn’t mean that we can’t brand ourselves as fun, and memorable to work with. We don’t just “do business” with clients, we create “experinces.” Our goal is to get results, but we’re going to make sure we also put our own style of pizzaz and geekiness on every interatction you have with our team.
