MO: What inspired you to launch your business?

Ben: The idea for Igniting Business came from the local need that I saw in the Columbia, Missouri community for affordable technology and marketing solutions primarily geared towards the small business market. Small businesses often face significant hurdles with technology and marketing services due to a myriad of reasons ranging from funding and size of staff, to strategic planning and implementation.

At Igniting Business we create solutions that save our clients time and money, as well as generate value for their customers.

MO: What issue does your core product help solve and how so?

Ben: Our solutions give small business the web, tech, and marketing strength that they so often would have to either bootstrap or completely do without. We enable small and micro businesses to operate with a professional and refined brand and dependable technology, while paying very affordable rates.

MO: What’s the most exciting thing on the horizon for you/your Company?

Ben: I’m actually really excited for a couple of the projects we will be launching in the next month or so. We are currently finalizing the development of custom Account Management System for the Heart of Missouri United Way that we think will revolutionize their efficiency and effectiveness as a nonprofit organization.

Also, we will be launching a new website for Christian Fellowship School next month, which I truly believe will be a model website for private schools in terms of functionality and saving time with regards to internal and external communications.

MO: Where do you envision your company in 5 years, 10 years, 20 years?

Ben: As the years progress, I hope that Igniting Business will become known as the web, tech, and marketing resource for small business in the Midwest. I look forward to many years of serving the small business market, and introducing new productivity and marketing tools.

MO: Do you consider yourself successful and by what means do you measure success?

Ben: Yes, I would consider myself successful. Though, I believe that success can be defined differently dependent upon the person and goals. My success resides primarily in continuing to grow profitably as a company while surpassing our clients’ performance and quality expectations. In essence, we achieve success as we help our clients accomplish their goals.

MO: What’s the biggest risk that you’ve ever taken and how did it turn out?

Ben: Honestly, entrepreneurship in general is a significant risk. I created Igniting Business while still a college student, which was a significant risk and time management challenge. Upon graduating, I had the opportunity to accept some very lucrative job offers from companies I thoroughly respect, or continue running and growing my own company. I chose the latter and could not be happier!

MO: Why do you place such an emphasis on small businesses?

Ben: In my opinion, small businesses, particularly companies with 50 employees or less, are both the most under-served and taken for granted. Small businesses make up the backbone of the American economy. Yet, most technology and marketing companies primarily focus on larger companies because the immediate monetary rewards are greater. That is why we possess a broader focus of services in the web, tech, and marketing arena allows us to fulfill numerous needs of our small business clients. As a result, we grow as our clients grow.
