“A workout should look like sheet music–it’s what’s between the notes that creates the music and always different tempos, rhythms & melodies–that’s how you’re workout should be…Never the same, always different. R.I.T.E. Fitness – Routine Is The Enemy.”

Jolie Glassman has been the owner of South Florida Boxing, Miami Beach’s oldest gym, since 1997 and has been a part of the education industry for over 22 years. Jolie started as a math and English teacher in schools, prisons and lock-down facilities. Her love for health and fitness began at an early age when she began instructing fitness classes. She didn’t stop there. In 1997, Jolie and her x-husband created South Florida Boxing – A Real Gym For Real People. Jolie always says “there are people who say they belong to a gym and then there are people who really go and workout. The people who really go and workout come here to South Florida Boxing where they get insane, intense training and get super strong and fit.”

South Florida Boxing (SFB), located in the heart of South Beach, is the oldest standing gym in Miami Beach (over 14 years). SFB is an all-inclusive gym offering over 55 classes per week. Classes include Boxing, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, R.I.T.E. Fitness, Jiu Jitsu, Mixed Martial Arts and Boot Camp. South Florida Boxing is a “Real Gym” and family style. Jolie Glassman, South Florida Boxing - Owner & CEO

MO: What was your inspiration for starting South Florida Boxing? Did you feel that there was a gap in the market?

Jolie: Yes. There was a huge gap in the market. There was a need in the community for a full-service, family-style performance gym and that is what I have created. South Florida Boxing stands out among the other gyms and fitness centers in Miami because is a “Real Gym for Real People Providing Real Results.” South Florida Boxing is truly Fitness for Everyone and performance training for athletes.

MO: What do you feel have been the most important elements of building and marketing your brand?

Jolie: The most important element of building my brand is consistency. Branding is what I love and do best. Over the years, I have made sure that the image of South Florida Boxing stays true to itself – A Family-Style and Performance Training Gym. Another important element of the brand is the action and energy. People come to South Florida Boxing and learn that it is a fitness community. The excitement and vibe of South Florida Boxing is infectious.

MO: What company accomplishment are you most proud of? What feedback do you love hearing?

Jolie: I am most proud of the accomplished brand that I have created. Celebrities from all over the world have trained at South Florida Boxing. The name recognition is so strong that people always just stop by to say hi and take a look at the gym.

MO: You specialize in motivating people. How do you stay inspired and motivated yourself?

Jolie: By doing what I love I stay motivated. I wake up everyday and I am excited to get to my gym to help my members get super fit and motivated. I am all about transforming lives. The 3 words that I live by are: Transformation, Inspiration and Fulfillment. The goals that I help my members reach just reassures me that I am revamping lives. That is what keeps me motivated!

MO: Do you often see a big influx of new gym members after the New Year? Can you give our readers any tips to sticking with their fitness plans and goals throughout the year instead of just as a short lived New Year’s resolution?

Jolie: The number one New Year’s Resolution is weight loss. So, yes. There tends to always be an influx in new gym members after the New Year. That is ok with us! Once they experience the insane energy and vibe at South Florida Boxing, they will never want to leave. It’s contagious.

Starting January 2nd, we are launching a 100 Day Push-Up Challenge. On day 1, each participant will do 1 full body weight push-up. On day 2, each participant will do 2 push-ups. On day 3, each participant will do 3 push-ups all the way up to 100 push-ups on the 100th day! The push-ups can be done in any fashion desired; spread out throughout the day as long as ALL required are completed on that day. R.I.T.E. Fitness – Routine Is The Enemy so change the time of day and number of push-ups you do at a given time. Completion of this challenge will not only result in extreme satisfaction but it will promote a strong motivational fitness community and help each other stick to their New Year’s Resolution of weight loss and getting in shape. New and current members will be encouraged to discuss this challenge in order to keep their fitness New Year’s Resolution alive!

MO: Are there any developments that you’re working on that you’re excited to share with our readers?

Jolie: There are many new developments on the rise for both South Florida Boxing and myself. I am in the process of franchising South Florida Boxing nationally. Strategically, I will not allow more than one South Florida Boxing gym in a specified surrounding radius of another. I want these gyms to remain family-style and performance training gyms.

The launch of my newest program “Lean Teens” has been a huge success! I plan to impact the youth fitness industry on a national scale with “Lean Teens” – afterschool boxing/self-defense class for students ages 10-17. I plan to license the name out to gyms across the country. I also plan to partner with schools to have them send their students to South Florida Boxing and/or other gyms offering this program. Many schools are limiting PE programs, so this is a great alternative to help kids stay healthy and fit.

I also just developed a new program called R.I.T.E Fitness – Routine is the Enemy. This workout program incorporates all modes of physical fitness and is specifically designed to incorporate recovery thus reducing any possible injuries. I always say “A workout should look like sheet music–it’s what’s between the notes that creates the music and always different tempos, rhythms & melodies–that’s how you’re workout should be…Never the same, always different. R.I.T.E. Fitness – Routine Is The Enemy.”

The most exciting thing on the horizon for me is the continuation of my life coaching company called “Revamp Your Life.” I motivate and provide guidance on topics such as diet, exercise, career, relationships, business…LIFE. My passion for people and life allows me to be successful with life coaching.
