Sherwood Neiss

A former three-time INC500 winner whose company won E&Y’s Entrepreneur of the Year, Sherwood understands the keys to entrepreneurial success from concept – to company – to a transaction.  Through his firm Crowdfund Capital Advisors (CCA), Sherwood works with clients ranging from heads of state that are looking for ways to boost economic development, to crowdfunding platforms looking to ensure they build sustainable businesses that benefit the markets they serve.

Sherwood started his post-MBA career on Wall Street and moved to Silicon Valley where he completed personal and financial goals in his late twenties he hoped to obtain in his thirties.  Wondering what to do next, and also left struggling with a debilitating family dilemma, he used his entrepreneurial drive to help turn his family adversity into a multi-million dollar company he eventually sold in 2007: FLAVORx. Starting with just one pharmacy, it is now available through 80% of the pharmacies in the U.S.

He is a founding board member of the two hyper-growth Crowdfunding associations, Crowdfunding Professionals (CfPA), a trade association focused on education and trade representation and Crowdfund Intermediary Regulatory Advocates (CFIRA), an advocacy group of intermediaries working with the SEC and FINRA to ensure the rules related to crowdfunding provide for a robust and efficient marketplace.  He is also an advisor to the European Crowdfunding Network and iCanada/CATA efforts to legalize crowdfunding. He is also in conversation with a new crowdfunding portal being built in Israel.

He speaks throughout the world on crowdfunding. Just a few of the highlights include the Globe Forum in Stockholm, at MIT/US State Department conference on Entrepreneurship in Istanbul, the Global Innovation Summit in San Francisco, and the Brookings Institution in Washington D.C.

He is currently co-authoring Crowdfund Investing for Dummies, and is passionate about bringing the revolution of crowdfunding to as many countries as possible — catapulting economic opportunity on a scale not previously imagined.
