BusinessInterviews.com: What inspired you to launch your business?
Kevin: After graduating from chiropractic school in 2003 and working as a chiropractor for 2 years, I began to realize how poorly effective the entire medical community was at treating chronic neck pain, back pain and sciatica. I became frustrated with my own lack of success at that time with treating those conditions and began to investigate a better more comprehensive treatment that would help those patients return to a functional lifestyle either free of pain or mostly free of pain depending on how severe their condition had progressed.
BusinessInterviews.com: Do you have any recent success stories that you’d like to share with our readers?
Kevin: There are so many stories to share, but one always sticks out in my mind. She was one of the first patients I had treated with our new system of treating degenerative disc disease and I remember her pain was so severe she called me the week before she was scheduled to start the treatment and told me she just didn’t think she could make it another week. After her second treatment she was pain free and felt she had literally experienced a miracle. I will admit that was one of the fastest recoveries I have witnessed even 8 years later, but even so it was still amazing to see her so happy in just 2 treatments. This lady was also in her 70’s at the time and had numerous medical treatments prior to seeing me including injections, chiropractic and medications.
BusinessInterviews.com: What issue does your core product help solve and how so?
Kevin: Our treatment fills a gap in the paradigm of most patients who do not get better with typical chiropractic treatments, Physical Therapy, time, medications or injections. Many of these patients are at a loss with their pain because they have run out of options and either are not candidates for spinal surgery or do not want it for obvious reasons. Our treatment process recognizes the functional deficits in the spine and helps restore lost biomechanical movements of the spinal disc, facet joints and supporting musculature. No other treatments to my knowledge have the capacity to address dysfunction as accurately or efficiently as our program.
BusinessInterviews.com: What has been your biggest challenge as a business owner and how have you met that challenge?
Kevin: Controlling the growth of our company has been our biggest challenge. I never would have expected to have grown to an office with so many employees and so many healthcare providers. I sort of envisioned an office in the beginning with just myself and a few employees. As demand grew I had to meet that demand by hiring and training other providers to help me manage and maintain the patient volume.
BusinessInterviews.com: What’s the most exciting thing on the horizon for you/your Company?
Kevin: We are entertaining the idea of expanding our business model into other markets. Now that we have a great human resource department for training and specific job duties for each employee, we feel it will be much easier to replicate the business in different locations.
BusinessInterviews.com: Where do you envision your company in 5 years, 10 years, 20 years?
Kevin: I envision our company with a reputation for achieving great patient results with an extremely high satisfaction rate where our business continues to grow on patient referrals alone. With the management team and professional like Dr. Huffman and Dr. Hart who are young in their careers, we have great opportunity for growth and development over the 10 and 20 year intervals.
BusinessInterviews.com: Have you had any mentors or role models that have influenced you? Describe the impact.
Kevin: My brother has been the best role model for me in my growth as a professional. He has practiced now for about 17 years and is not only a brilliant chiropractor, but also a great person. He always challenges my knowledge and has shared numerous case studies for specific conditions that has helped me achieve better results for my patients.
BusinessInterviews.com: Do you consider yourself successful and by what means do you measure success?
Kevin: Yes I consider myself successful mainly from the success my patients have had achieving their goals. Many of our patients come from referrals and we feel that is the highest measure of success and trust when someone refers a friend or family member.
BusinessInterviews.com: How do your competitors view you?
Kevin: I have run into several chiropractors and physicians that I had never met at social gatherings or have been introduced by colleagues and they have commented on having seen some of my patients whom have always had great things to say about me and our staff.
BusinessInterviews.com: What advice do you have for other entrepreneurs and business owners? What do you wish someone told you?
Kevin: Never stop training your staff and never become complacent with a great customer experience. I wish I had been given a better hiring process and “on-boarding” process to build a great business culture from day one instead of winging it and re-inventing the wheel with each employee.
BusinessInterviews.com: What’s the biggest risk that you’ve ever taken and how did it turn out?
Kevin: The biggest risk I took was investing in the machines we still use today which is an integral part of our treatment program for treating patients with chronic spinal pain. The risk was worth it and after having treated more than 2000 patients in the program and seeing the lives that have been changed, I would say it was priceless.
