“Apple was an entrepreneurial company where however big your dreams were, you were given the opportunity to achieve them.”

Wanderful Media® is a Silicon Valley company reinventing local discovery shopping. With access to almost 100 million unique visitors per month throughout its network, Wanderful Media helps retailers bring shoppers into local stores and gives shoppers the most convenient way to discover local merchandise.

The company owns and operates the Find&Save® brand of local shopping sites covering all of the top 50 designated market areas (DMAs). Unlike price comparison, daily deal and couponing sites, Find&Save makes discovery shopping engaging, fun and social for shoppers, wherever they are and however they shop – tablet, mobile or web.

Wanderful Media is an independent company financed by a powerful group of media companies that includes Advance Digital, A. H. Belo Corporation, Community Newspaper Holdings Inc., Cox Media Group, The E. W. Scripps Company, Gannett Co., Inc., GateHouse Media, Inc., Hearst Corporation, Lee Enterprises, MediaNews Group, The McClatchy Company, and The Washington Post Co.

Wanderful Media represents a media industry initiative to transform the $4 billion business of traditional advertising circulars through digital innovation – just as joint media ventures such as CareerBuilder and Cars.com strengthened the industry’s position through the use of new technology.

In September 2012, Wanderful Media entered the market, connecting retail advertisers with millions of consumers nationwide. The company was originally formed in November 2011 as ShopCo Holdings.

Wanderful Media is headquartered in Los Gatos, Calif., and has a development and operations office in downtown Chico, Calif.

MO: What issue does your core product help solve and how so?

Lisa: Available on tablet, mobile and web browsers, Find&Save is an online destination for shoppers to discover a comprehensive collection of products and sales in their local area. Today finding local sales is a fragmented experience forcing shoppers to use multiple sources, and Find&Save streamlines that experience. By being aware of local sales, shoppers can save money on items that they need and want.

Shoppers can follow their favorite retailers, categories and brands. The free service allows shoppers to share sale items and lists across Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and email. And with Find&Save they never miss a sale — shoppers get alerts to sales in their area when products they’re following are about to expire and when they have expired. Find&Save lets people save time and money on their local shopping trips and creates a unique and enjoyable discovery experience for uncovering local sales.

MO: What’s the most exciting thing on the horizon for you/your Company?

Lisa: Unveiling the reimagined Find&Save to the market earlier this year has definitely been the most exciting event for Wanderful Media thus far. The product has been well received by local shoppers, and we continue to experience significant growth.

In the coming months, we’ll introduce Find&Save native apps for the iPad and iPhone to further enhance the local shopping journey. Among several new product features, Find&Save will be working with retailers who are utilizing geo-fencing to send alerts on nearby sales for shoppers who have elected to share their GPS location with Find&Save.

MO: Where do you envision your company in 5 years, 10 years, 20 years?

Lisa: Wanderful Media will be at the forefront of delivering compelling consumer digital shopping experiences.

MO: Have you had any mentors or role models that have influenced you? Describe the impact.

Lisa: I had a lot of mentors in my early days at Apple where I learned my craft from the best. I can go from strategy to execution and from local to global because of my experience there and the opportunities I was given. Apple was an entrepreneurial company where however big your dreams were, you were given the opportunity to achieve them. This has helped immeasurably in my work with start-ups as well as building new initiatives inside of large companies. I now try and learn from everyone I work with. Rather than focusing on one or two individuals, I try to take the best from those around me.

MO: Do you consider yourself successful and by what means do you measure success?

Lisa: Yes. Success for me is measured in both a personal and professional context. Personally I have been fortunate to have wonderful family and friends, and tremendous opportunity. I try and give back, and always make time for my non-profit work, which not only makes me thankful for what I have but also broadens my understanding of the world and the diversity of the people around me.

Professionally, I have worked hard and have been rewarded with opportunity and success. My career has spanned working at large companies and start-ups, consumer and enterprise, domestic and global. I have experienced the excitement of taking a company public, been part of acquisitions and all stages of start-ups, and created a lot of “firsts.” I have also been fortunate to manage and develop great teams of professionals who act with integrity and have gone on to successes of their own. My guiding principle has always been to work hard, support the goals of your company and treat people with respect, and success will come your way. I’m not done yet and look forward to achieving more.
