BusinessInterviews.com: What inspired you to launch your business?

David Gasparyan: Before Phonexa, I had been in charge of two companies over a span of time that both operated in the digital marketing and lead generation space. In that time, it became clear to me that even though we were enjoying significant success, we could be doing better and we would benefit from a more robust SaaS solution for managing leads. After seeing this first hand, I saw an opportunity to create a new kind of web application that could be significantly better than all the other options on the market.

As a result, I worked with my team to make Phonexa a reality—an all-in-one lead tracking and distribution platform that gives marketers the ability to optimize their call and web campaigns. We were proud to launch as the only all-in-one platform on the market that handles call tracking, lead distribution, and email marketing.

BusinessInterviews.com: Do you have any recent success stories that you’d like to share with our readers?

David Gasparyan: The progress that we have made as a company has been inspiring to guide and witness. Since our founding, we have been very successful in the financial vertical. We confidently say that we have a truly dominant market presence in the lending and FinTech space.

Since then, we have also successfully expanded into the insurance vertical as well. We enjoyed positive feedback from insurance customers since the beginning, which made it easier for us to double down on our efforts to make Phonexa the choice of more insurance clients. We have gained insight from our initial insurance customers and have positioned Phonexa as a preferred SaaS platform for insurance lead generators.

BusinessInterviews.com: What issue does your core product help solve and how so?

David Gasparyan: In short, Phonexa helps marketers determine their campaign attribution by offering call tracking and analytics, lead management and distribution, and email marketing tools on an all-in-one platform.

Our target market is lead generators, which includes advertisers, affiliate marketers, and affiliate networks. Phonexa’s all-in-one platform lets them get more detailed insights than other platform, and optimize their campaigns across multiple marketing channels. Many experienced professionals in this space have found their growth slowed or obstructed by inefficient SaaS applications. Some have had to cobble together their marketing analytics across multiple different applications—this is a time-consuming process that is ripe for errors to occur.

With Phonexa, we streamline the marketer’s entire workflow on our all-in-one platform. We have call tracking for inbound calls. We have lead management for web leads. We have email marketing for retargeting and email lists. And we have integrated accounting to synthesize your bookkeeping. Our clients have found that our platform offers convenience, efficiency, and the tools needed to have a very positive impact on their ROI.

BusinessInterviews.com: What has been your biggest challenge as a business owner and how have you met that challenge?

David Gasparyan: When you set out to build something no one else has built before you are going to face challenges. In creating Phonexa as an all-in-one platform, there were a number of obstacles that arose. We had to decide how we would build this platform and design an interface that gave users access to all the tools they needed but that still not be too complicated or difficult to use.

It was fortunate that I and others on my team had years of experience in digital marketing and lead generation. This allowed us to boil our challenges down to a simple question: “Is this going to be valuable to the user?” By focusing our efforts on what the users wanted, we were able to overcome any challenges in the design process. Even today, as we consider new updates and features we always return to that core question of user value.

BusinessInterviews.com: What’s the most exciting thing on the horizon for you/your Company?

David Gasparyan: We make a special point of it to listen to our users and in doing so we have started developing more solutions that will be offered through Phonexa. We know that marketers want to be able to get more detailed attribution data or use new tools to connect with their customers. Without getting into specifics, I can say that in addition to continually improving our platforms for call tracking, lead distribution, and email marketing, we expect to be announcing some exciting new features in the months ahead.

BusinessInterviews.com: Where do you envision your company in 5 years, 10 years, 20 years?

David Gasparyan: All of our efforts at Phonexa are done with the end user in mind. We listen to their pain points, we learn what solutions could help, and we give them the ability to customize. So I would be wrong to say exactly what I envision for Phonexa in the future because we will be listening to users and prospective users and building the tools that they need. I know that no matter how far in the future you look, we will always be innovative in our approach, creative in our solutions, and dedicated to creating the best possible experience for our customers.

BusinessInterviews.com: Have you had any mentors or role models that have influenced you? Describe the impact.

David Gasparyan: I would say that I have had many people who I have looked up to and used for inspiration in my life, including my father, other family members, and some I have worked with over the years. But when I think of a business leader who I like to learn from, it would be Steve Jobs. There is much to learn from looking at his commitment to his vision and his impact on how technology can shape our world.

BusinessInterviews.com: Do you consider yourself successful and by what means do you measure success?

David Gasparyan: Success is an interesting concept to discuss. Personally, I’ve always viewed success as more about how you approach the journey than getting to a destination. I think success can be measured in many ways: do you enjoy the work you do each day? Is your company achieving its goals? Are your employees enthusiastic about your mission? Do you have a good balance between your work and personal life?

By these metrics, I feel successful in my day-to-day life. I am incredibly proud of the work we are doing at Phonexa. I am energized by what we have achieved so far and what we have coming down the road. Every day that we work together towards our goals I feel that we have achieved success.

BusinessInterviews.com: How do your competitors view you?

David Gasparyan: I would think that our competitors view us almost as an anomaly, and I say that because our platform is such a unique entry into the market. Because we are an all-in-one platform, we are competing with many more platforms than one would expect. But of course what surprises them is how effective we are as an all-in-one. Our clients are just as satisfied with our lead distribution as they are our call tracking, and so the competition may wonder “How can this be? How can they do so much and still deliver such value?”

BusinessInterviews.com: What advice do you have for other entrepreneurs and business owners? What do you wish someone told you?

David Gasparyan: Begin with a vision. Then, make sure you assemble the ideal team to help you achieve it. Many entrepreneurs will have a vision of their company but fail to search for the right people to make their vision a reality. This is a mistake. If you want to grow quickly and see your idea realized, you have be willing to trust others with certain tasks. A lot will fall on your shoulders at first, but eventually you a need a team to carry out your plan while you stay focused on the big picture.

BusinessInterviews.com: What’s the biggest risk that you’ve ever taken and how did it turn out?

David Gasparyan: One piece of advice I think would have been helpful when I began would be to be patient and stay the course. There were plenty of times when I was just beginning in this business that there would be doubt and impatience. What I’ve learned now is that if you have confidence in your vision, work very hard, and find the right people then success finds a way.

BusinessInterviews.com: Anything else you’d like to comment on while we have you?

David Gasparyan: Even though we had tremendous confidence in our product, it was still a very big risk to launch Phonexa. My whole background has bene digital marketing, but to start a whole new tech company was still something new and exciting—that comes with big risk. There is concern that you won’t be able to find your place in the market or that consumers may not notice you. Through it all, though, we stayed focus on our goals and now the company is enjoying wonderful success. And yet I still feel as though we are just getting started.
